Simulating Tournament Conditions in Practice

To really close that gap between practice and match play, my friend, you need to actively simulate tournament conditions in your training. As your buddy, I suggest recreating as many elements of a competitive environment as you can right there in your practice space.

Play full matches: Don't just do drills. Play complete '01 legs or Cricket games, even if it's just against yourself or an app. Track your average as if it were a real match.

Introduce pressure: Play for some small stakes (like "loser does 10 push-ups" or a tiny wager with a friend).

Use a timer: Practice responding within a set time limit, mirroring the pace of a real game.

Add distractions: Play with background music, the TV on, or have a friend chat or walk around while you're throwing.

Wear match attire:** If you have a specific shirt or gear for matches, wear it during some practice sessions to build that mental association.

By repeatedly exposing yourself to these simulated conditions, you'll become less sensitive to the real pressures of a tournament, building the mental toughness and adaptability you need to perform when it really counts.
