Post-Shot Self-Correction: Moving On Without Dwelling

In darts, my friend, every shot is its own event, but it's super easy for one bad dart to spill into the next, creating a string of errors. As your coach, I'll teach you: post-shot self-correction is that critical skill of acknowledging a mistake, making a quick mental adjustment, and then immediately moving on without getting stuck on it.

When a dart misses, quickly ask yourself: "What happened there?" Was it a grip issue? Did your elbow drift? Was the release rushed? Identify the possible cause without judgment or criticizing yourself. Then, with your very next dart, consciously focus on correcting that one specific thing. For instance, if your dart went low, remind yourself to fully extend your arm on the next throw. Once you've identified and mentally noted the correction, let go of the previous dart.

Avoid replaying that bad shot in your mind; it just reinforces negative patterns. Your focus has to be entirely on the present moment and the next dart. This quick analysis followed by an immediate mental reset is vital for staying composed and stopping one error from turning into many.
