Fives (or Fives Up): The Simplicity of Multiples

Fives (or Fives Up), my friend, is a simple yet engaging darts game that's popular in pubs. It focuses on collecting points in multiples of five. As your buddy, I'll tell you: the basic idea is easy: you throw three darts per turn, and only points that are a multiple of five count towards your score. The goal is to be the first to reach a set target score, usually 501\.

For example, if you hit a single 20, you get 20 points. If you hit a single 17, you only score 15 points (because 15 is the closest multiple of five below 17). If you hit a single 13, you score 10 points. Doubles and triples count as their full value for the multiple (so T20 is 60, D15 is 30). This game encourages you to aim for specific scoring segments that are naturally multiples of five (like 5, 10, 15, 20\) or those you can strategically round down. It simplifies scoring while still requiring accuracy and smart play to maximize your points based on that 'multiples of five' rule.
