Dartboard Care: Keeping Your Board in Top Shape

Your dartboard, my friend, is the very heart of your darts setup, and taking good care of it is super important to make it last and keep it playing well. As your buddy, I emphasize: a well-maintained board ensures your darts stick properly and those scoring segments stay clear.

The most important tip I can give you is to rotate your dartboard regularly. The Triple 20, Triple 19, and the Bullseye areas get hit the most. By periodically rotating the number ring (maybe once a week if you play a lot), you spread out the wear across different segments. This gives those heavily used fibers a chance to rest and "heal," significantly extending your board's life.

Avoid leaving darts in the board for long periods; this can permanently compress the sisal fibers, making it harder for darts to stick. When you pull your darts out, twist them out instead of just pulling straight, to minimize damage to the fibers. Keep your board away from direct sunlight and too much moisture, as these can make it dry out, crack, or warp. If it gets dusty, you can gently wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. A well-cared-for dartboard will give you consistent performance and years of enjoyment.
